When a website stops loading, freezes, or repeatedly shows “Page Not Responding” in Microsoft Edge/Google Chrome, while other sites work normally, the issue is often caused by outdated or corrupted data saved for that specific site. This can happen with banking sites, portals, and other secure pages that update their login systems. The quickest fix is to clear the stored cookies and site data for that one website, which refreshes your connection without deleting your entire browsing history. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
Microsoft Edge
Click the ellipsis menu (...) in the top right corner in Edge and then Settings
Next Privacy, search, and services then Cookies
See all cookies and site data
- Type the website click the down arrow and then hit the trash can icon.
- Close the browser completely and reopen it.
Google Chrome
Ellipsis menu (...) then Settings
In Privacy and security go into Site settings
View permissions and data stored across sites
Search for the website you're trying to access or scroll down to find it, then hit the Trash Can icon
- Close the browser completely and reopen it.
Note: If this doesn’t resolve the issue, or if you’re unable to locate the site, you may need to clear your entire browsing data. Keep in mind that this will remove cookies and cached data for all websites, which may sign you out of sites and reset saved preferences.
